Hi! I am a PhD student in Computer Science at UC Berkeley.
My research focuses on using statistics and machine learning (ML) as a way of understanding social issues and improving equity and access for underserved communities. I’m interested in thinking about the intersection and limitations of causal inference, prediction, and mechanism design. I work on applications of ML such as with resource allocation in government assistance programs and nonprofit organizations. Previously, I have worked on using AI applications for agriculture and with Covid-19 online misinformation spread.
Prior to beginning my PhD at UC Berkeley in 2021, I received an M.S. in Statistics from Duke University, where I was advised by Jerry Reiter and Sayan Mukherjee, and a B.A. in Applied Math from Harvard University.
Since May 2020, I have had the pleasure of serving as a general board member of Black in AI, where I support the Black in AI Academic Program and AI Policy Efforts.
